16
What is WorldRankList?
WorldRankList (WRL) is a verified business ranking engine. Every business gets a single WRL score from 0 to 1000, calculated by an algorithm from real signals, and is ranked only against other businesses in the same city and category.
Is WorldRankList just another business directory?
No. A directory simply lists businesses. WorldRankList ranks them by a transparent, algorithmic score built from genuine activity — reviews, verified leads, engagement and verification — so the order means something.
How is WorldRankList different from Google or Yelp?
Our ranking is fully algorithmic and the order can never be bought. There are no paid positions inside the rankings — the only paid product is a clearly-labelled sponsored slot that sits beside the organic list and never changes a score.
Who is WorldRankList for?
It serves two groups: customers who want a trustworthy way to find the best business in a category and city, and business owners who want a fair, earned way to prove they are the best.
Does it cost anything to use WorldRankList?
Browsing rankings, searching and reading reviews is free for everyone. Listing your business and earning a WRL score is also free.
What does “WRL” stand for?
WRL is short for WorldRankList — and also for the WRL score, the 0 to 1000 number every business earns.
What is the one rule that defines WorldRankList?
Rank is earned by the algorithm — it can never be bought, edited, or influenced by payment. Everything else on the platform is built around protecting that rule.
How often do rankings update?
Rankings refresh every 24 hours. A nightly job re-scores every business and re-ranks each city-and-category pool.
Do I need an account to browse rankings?
No. Anyone can view leaderboards, open a listing and read reviews without signing in. You only need an account to list or manage a business, save favourites, or leave certain actions tied to your identity.
How do I list my business?
Create an account, verify your email, then use the Add business page. Your listing is reviewed by our team and goes live once approved.
Which countries and cities are covered?
WorldRankList covers a growing list of cities worldwide. Each business is ranked within its own city and category, so coverage is meaningful at a local level rather than one giant global list.
Is WorldRankList available on mobile?
Yes. The whole site is mobile-first and responsive, so leaderboards, listings, search and your owner dashboard all work on a phone browser.
Do I need to install an app?
No app is required. WorldRankList runs entirely in your web browser on desktop and mobile.
In what language is the site?
The interface is in English. Business names, descriptions and reviews appear in whatever language their authors used.
How do I contact the WorldRankList team?
Use the Contact page to send a message, or email us directly. A real person replies, usually within one to two business days.
Where can I learn how the score works in detail?
The About page summarises the six signals, and every business listing shows a breakdown of how its own score was built. This FAQ covers the rest.

The WRL score

How the 0–1000 score is built from six real signals.

18
What is the WRL score?
The WRL score is a single number from 0 to 1000 that summarises how strong a business is, calculated by an algorithm from six real signals.
What are the six signals behind the score?
Review quality, engagement, verified leads, verification, profile completeness and freshness. Each is measured separately, then combined into the total.
How much is each signal worth?
Review quality up to 300, engagement up to 200, verified leads up to 150, verification up to 150, profile completeness up to 100, and freshness up to 100 — adding to a maximum of 1000.
Why is review quality the biggest signal?
Genuine reviews are the clearest sign of real customer satisfaction, so they carry the most weight — up to 300 points of the 1000.
How is the review-quality signal calculated?
It uses a Bayesian average that blends your rating with the number of reviews, so a business with many genuine reviews is rewarded over one with a single perfect score.
What does the engagement signal measure?
Every genuine interaction with your listing, ranked on an intent ladder: calls and WhatsApp count most, then enquiry clicks, then website clicks, then saves and shares, then profile clicks and views. It is worth up to 200 points, plus a bonus for turning views into real contacts.
What are verified leads worth in the score?
Up to 150 points. A verified lead is a confirmed customer enquiry — one of the hardest signals to fake, which is exactly why it is weighted heavily.
What does the verification signal reward?
Verification is tiered and worth up to 150 points: document verification is the biggest part, then phone verification, then your verified account email, plus a small bonus for an established listing (tenure). Completing them all earns the full 150 and the verified badge.
How does profile completeness affect my score?
A complete, useful profile earns up to 100 points. Core contact fields count more than extras, and the signal is capped so it can never dominate the ranking.
What is the freshness signal?
Freshness rewards recent activity, worth up to 100 points. A listing that is active and up to date stays fresh; one that goes quiet gradually loses freshness points.
Can I see exactly how my score was calculated?
Yes. Your owner analytics page breaks your score down signal by signal and shows where the points came from, so there is no mystery.
Is the score the same everywhere?
Your score is one number, but your rank depends on the pool. The same score can rank first in one city-and-category and lower in a more competitive one.
Why might my score go down?
Scores move with the signals: fewer recent interactions, an ageing profile, removed reviews, or a fraud penalty can all lower it. The analytics page shows which signal changed.
What is the spam penalty?
If our fraud checks detect manipulation — such as a burst of fake reviews — a spam penalty is subtracted from the score after the signals are added up. Honest businesses never see it.
Can two businesses have the same score?
Yes, scores can tie. Ranking then falls back to a consistent tie-break so the order stays stable between refreshes.
Is a higher score always a better business?
A higher score means stronger, more verified signals of trust and activity. It is the best single summary we can compute, but you should still read the reviews and profile before deciding.
Can I pay to increase my WRL score?
No. The score cannot be bought, edited or influenced by payment under any circumstances. The only way up is real signals.
Do likes or saves change my score?
A little. A save counts as a low-intent engagement action — but only once per user and recency-weighted, so it can never be spammed and never outweighs reviews, verified leads or verification.

Ranking & leaderboards

How pools, ranks and the leaderboards work.

16
What is a leaderboard?
A leaderboard is the ranked list of businesses for one city-and-category pool — for example digital-marketing agencies in Ludhiana — ordered from the highest WRL score down.
What is a “pool”?
A pool is the combination of one category and one city. You are only ranked against other businesses in your own pool, which keeps the comparison fair and local.
Why am I ranked only against my city and category?
Because comparing a plumber in one city to a law firm in another would be meaningless. Ranking within a pool means rank 1 truly is the strongest in that local market.
How is rank assigned?
Within each pool, businesses are sorted by WRL score from highest to lowest and given positions 1, 2, 3 and so on. The whole pool is re-ranked on every nightly run.
How often does my rank change?
Ranks are recalculated every 24 hours. If your signals improve relative to your rivals, you can climb at the next refresh.
What does the rank-movement arrow mean?
It shows how your position changed since the last snapshot — up, down or steady — so you can see momentum at a glance.
What is the rank-history graph?
Every nightly run stores a snapshot of your score and rank. Those snapshots power the rank-history sparkline on your listing and the fuller graph in your analytics.
How do I climb the leaderboard?
Earn genuine reviews, convert enquiries into verified leads, complete your profile, get verified, and stay active. Your analytics page lists the specific moves that would help you most.
Can I reach rank 1 by paying?
No. There is no paid placement inside any leaderboard. Position is earned purely by your WRL score.
Why did a competitor overtake me?
Because their signals improved faster than yours — perhaps new reviews or verified leads. Rank is relative, so standing still lets active rivals pass you.
Can I appear on more than one leaderboard?
Each listing belongs to one category and one city, so it ranks in one pool. A business operating in several cities or categories would need a listing for each.
What is the global or all-categories leaderboard?
Alongside pool leaderboards, you can browse broader views that combine categories or cities. These are for discovery; your competitive rank is always within your specific pool.
Do sponsored businesses rank higher?
No. A sponsored business appears in a labelled slot above the organic list, but its WRL score and rank are completely untouched by sponsorship.
How are ties broken on the leaderboard?
When two businesses share a score, a stable tie-break keeps their order consistent so the list does not shuffle randomly between refreshes.
My new listing is not on the leaderboard yet — why?
A new listing must be approved and then scored on the next nightly run before it appears. Give it up to 24 hours after approval.
Does WorldRankList ever edit ranks by hand?
Never. Not even an administrator can set or edit a score or rank. They are written only by the scoring engine.

Reviews

Leaving reviews, moderation and how reviews feed the score.

18
How do I leave a review?
Open the business listing and use the review form to give a star rating and write your experience. Reviews are checked before they appear publicly.
Do I need an account to review a business?
You provide your name with the review so it can be attributed. Reviews go through moderation regardless, to keep the signal honest.
Why is my review not showing immediately?
Every review is moderated first. Only reviews marked published appear publicly and feed the score; this protects businesses from fake-review attacks.
What gets a review rejected?
Spam, abuse, conflicts of interest, fake or incentivised reviews, and anything that breaks our guidelines. Genuine experiences — positive or negative — are welcome.
How do reviews affect the WRL score?
Published reviews feed the review-quality signal, worth up to 300 points — the single biggest part of the score. It blends your Bayesian rating (quality and volume) with bonuses for verified reviews (tied to a real lead), written reviews, and recent reviews.
Do recent reviews matter more than old ones?
Yes. A steady flow of recent reviews keeps the recency part of the signal high, so ongoing genuine feedback is rewarded over a listing resting on old reviews.
Does a written review count more than just a star rating?
Slightly, yes. Reviews with written text add to the review-depth component, because a detailed review is more useful to other customers and harder to fake.
Can one five-star review put a business at the top?
No. The Bayesian formula blends rating with volume, so a single five-star review cannot outweigh a large body of genuine reviews.
What is a Bayesian review score?
It starts every business from a neutral prior and moves towards its true average as more genuine reviews arrive. This stops a tiny number of reviews from swinging the score wildly.
What is a verified review?
A review tied to a real enquiry (a lead) is a verified review — extra strong evidence because it links to a genuine customer interaction.
Can a business delete bad reviews?
No. Owners cannot delete or edit reviews. Only moderators remove reviews, and only when they break the guidelines — not because they are negative.
Can a business pay to hide negative reviews?
No. There is no way to pay to remove, hide or reorder reviews. That would corrupt the most important signal in the score.
Can I edit or remove my own review?
Contact us if you need to correct or withdraw a review you wrote. We handle changes through moderation to keep an honest record.
How do I encourage customers to review me?
Ask real customers after a job is done and make it easy by sharing your listing link. Never buy reviews or offer rewards for them — fraud checks catch unnatural patterns.
Are negative reviews bad for my rank?
A genuine mix is healthy and credible. The Bayesian average is forgiving of the occasional low rating when you have many good ones; responding well matters more than chasing perfection.
Can competitors leave fake reviews to hurt me?
Moderation and fraud checks exist precisely to catch this. If you suspect coordinated fake reviews, report them and we will investigate.
Do reviews need to be in English?
No. Reviews can be in any language; they are shown as written.
Why was my glowing review of my own business removed?
Self-reviews and reviews from connected parties are a conflict of interest and are removed. The score must reflect real customers, not the owner.

Leads & enquiries

Customer enquiries, verified leads and your inbox.

14
What is a lead?
A lead is a customer enquiry sent through your listing — a real person reaching out to your business. Leads land in your owner dashboard inbox.
What is a verified lead?
A verified lead is an enquiry that has been confirmed genuine, for example by phone. Verified leads are the strongest, hardest-to-fake signal in the whole score.
How much are verified leads worth?
Up to 150 points. They are weighted heavily on purpose, because a real person enquiring is far harder to fake than a page view.
How does a customer send me an enquiry?
On your listing they fill in a short enquiry form with their name, phone and message. It is saved as a lead and you are notified in your dashboard.
Where do I see my leads?
In the Leads inbox inside your owner dashboard. Each business you manage has its own inbox.
Can I mark a lead as contacted or closed?
Yes. You can move each lead through new, contacted and closed so you can manage your follow-ups. This workflow is for you and never changes your score.
How does a lead become verified?
Verification is confirmed by us — for example through a phone check — not by the owner. You cannot mark your own leads verified, which is what keeps the signal trustworthy.
Can I create my own leads to boost my score?
No. Only genuine enquiries count, and verification is out of your hands. Fabricated leads are exactly what the verification step is designed to stop.
Do unverified leads help my score?
Yes, a little — raw enquiry volume now feeds the conversion signal as a lighter component (recency-weighted), and enquiry clicks feed engagement. But the heavy conversion points still come from verified leads.
Will I be notified of a new lead?
New leads appear in your dashboard inbox with a “new” marker so you can respond quickly. Fast replies tend to convert better.
Can customers contact me without leaving a lead?
Yes. Call, WhatsApp and website buttons let customers reach you directly; those clicks feed the engagement signal even when no formal enquiry is left.
Are leads private?
Yes. A lead is visible only to the business that received it and to our staff for moderation. It is not shown publicly.
What information is in a lead?
Typically the customer’s name, phone number and message, plus the time it was sent. You use these details to follow up.
Why are some of my leads marked unverified?
They simply have not been confirmed yet. Verification is a deliberate step; an unverified lead is still a real enquiry awaiting confirmation.

Verification & trust

The verified badge and how trust is proven.

14
What does the verified badge mean?
It means the business has passed our verification — confirming it is a real, contactable business. The badge appears on the listing and feeds the verification signal.
How do I get my business verified?
Verification involves confirming your details, such as document and phone checks. Completing it earns up to 150 points and the verified badge.
How many points is verification worth?
Up to 150 of the 1000 points — a significant, trust-building part of the score.
Is verification required to be listed?
No. You can list and rank without it, but verified businesses earn more trust points and display the badge, which helps both rank and customer confidence.
Can I buy a verified badge?
No. The badge is earned by passing verification checks, never purchased. Paying for trust would defeat its purpose.
What is phone verification?
Confirming you control the business phone number, typically with a one-time code. It strengthens both verification and the trustworthiness of your leads.
What is document verification?
Providing proof that the business is genuine, such as registration documents. It is reviewed by our team as part of verification.
Does verification expire?
Verification reflects a confirmed business. If key details change, we may ask you to re-confirm them to keep the badge accurate.
Why is verified a stronger trust signal than reviews?
Reviews can be gamed at the margins; verification and verified leads require real-world proof that is far harder to fake, which is why they form the platform’s trust moat.
Will customers see that I am verified?
Yes. The verified badge is shown publicly on your listing and in lists, so customers can immediately see you have been confirmed.
I am verified but my rank is still low — why?
Verification is one of six signals. If your reviews, engagement or leads are weak, rivals can still outscore you. Your analytics shows which signal to work on next.
Does email verification of my account verify my business?
No. Verifying your email confirms your account so you can manage listings. Verifying the business is a separate, deeper check that earns the badge.
Can verification be revoked?
Yes, if a business is found to have misrepresented itself or breaks our rules, the badge can be removed along with any other appropriate action.
How do I report a business I think is falsely verified?
Contact us with the details. We take verification integrity seriously and will review any credible report.

Adding & claiming a listing

Putting your business on the board and claiming an existing entry.

16
How do I add my business?
Register an account, verify your email, then open the Add business page and fill in your details. Your submission is reviewed before going live.
Why must I verify my email before adding a business?
So every listing is tied to a real, contactable owner. Adding a business is only available once your account email is confirmed.
Is listing my business free?
Yes. Listing and earning a WRL score costs nothing. The only paid product is an optional sponsored slot, which is separate from the ranking.
What happens after I submit my business?
It is created as pending and reviewed by our team. Once approved it goes live and is scored on the next nightly run.
How long does approval take?
Reviews are usually quick. Until approved, your listing is pending and does not appear in public rankings.
What details do I need to add a business?
At minimum a business name, category and city. Adding contact details, hours, services and links makes your profile stronger and lifts the completeness signal.
Can I add more than one business?
Yes. One account can own several businesses, each managed separately from your dashboard.
What is claiming a listing?
If your business already exists on WorldRankList but is unclaimed, you can claim it to take ownership and manage its profile, leads and analytics.
How do I claim an existing listing?
Open the listing and choose to claim it, or use the Claim a listing option in your dashboard. We confirm you are the rightful owner before handing over control.
Someone else claimed my business — what do I do?
Contact us right away. We will investigate ownership and correct it if the claim is not legitimate.
Why was my submission rejected?
Common reasons include duplicate listings, missing or false details, or a category and city that do not match the business. You can fix the issues and resubmit.
Can I choose my own rank when adding a business?
No. You never set your rank. A new listing starts from its real signals and earns its position from there.
My business serves several cities — how do I list it?
Because ranking is per city-and-category pool, list the locations you genuinely operate from. Each appears in its own local leaderboard.
Can I list a business that is online-only?
Yes. Choose the city that best represents your base or primary market so customers can find you in the right pool.
What if my category is not listed?
Pick the closest match when adding your business, then contact us to suggest a new category. We expand categories as the platform grows.
Can I delete my listing?
Yes. Contact us or use your account controls to request removal. We will take the listing down and remove associated data as appropriate.

Managing your profile

Editing your listing and completing every field.

14
How do I edit my listing?
Open your owner dashboard and choose Edit on the business you want to change. You can update your profile fields there at any time.
Which profile fields can I edit?
Contact details, description, business hours, founded year, services, a map link, WhatsApp number and social or video links. You cannot edit your score or rank — those are computed.
Why should I complete every field?
A complete profile is more useful to customers and lifts your profile-completeness signal (up to 100 points). It also feeds richer machine-readable data for AI search.
Do social links boost my rank?
They add incremental completeness, but the signal is capped so links can never dominate. They are rewarded as useful, not as a shortcut to outranking a better business.
What are services or tags?
Short labels for what you offer. They help customers understand your business and appear on your “About this business” card.
Can I add my business hours?
Yes. Opening hours are a profile field. Keeping them accurate helps customers and contributes to completeness.
Can I add photos or a logo?
Your profile supports imagery and branding fields where available. A clear visual identity makes your listing more compelling to customers.
How do I add my WhatsApp number?
Enter it in the WhatsApp field when editing your listing. A WhatsApp button then appears for customers and its clicks feed engagement.
Will editing my profile change my rank immediately?
Profile changes are reflected at the next nightly recompute. Completing fields can raise your completeness points, which feed into the next refresh.
Can I change my business name?
You can update your name from the edit screen. Significant changes may be reviewed to prevent abuse such as keyword stuffing.
Can I change my category or city after listing?
Category and city define your pool, so changes are handled carefully and may be reviewed. Contact us if you need to move pools for a legitimate reason.
What is the founded year used for?
It shows credibility and longevity to customers and feeds structured data. It contributes to a complete profile.
Is there a character limit on my description?
Keep your description clear and genuine. Avoid stuffing it with keywords or unrelated locations — that does not help your rank and can be flagged.
Can someone else manage my listing for me?
The account that owns the listing controls it. If you use an agency, ensure ownership and access are set up so the right people can edit responsibly.

Dashboard & analytics

Understanding why you rank where you do.

12
What does the owner dashboard show?
A summary of every business you manage: its WRL score, rank, new leads and reviews, with quick links to edit, analytics and your inbox.
What is the analytics page for?
It answers “why am I ranked here” by breaking your score into its six signals and showing a rank-history graph plus tailored tips to climb.
How do the “how to climb” tips work?
They look at your weakest signals and suggest the highest-impact moves — for example getting more reviews or converting enquiries into verified leads.
What is the rank-history graph?
A chart built from nightly snapshots of your score and rank, so you can see your trend over time rather than just today’s number.
Why is my score breakdown useful?
Because it shows exactly where your points come from and where they are missing, so you can focus effort where it actually moves your rank.
Does checking my analytics affect my score?
No. Viewing your own analytics is private and has no effect on your signals or rank.
Can I see how many people viewed my listing?
Yes. Engagement metrics such as views and contact clicks are visible to you and feed the engagement signal.
Is analytics available for free?
Core insight into your score and rank is available to owners. Deeper analytics tools are part of our paid layer, which sells insight — never position.
Why does paying for analytics not raise my rank?
Analytics tells you what to improve; it does not change your signals. You still have to earn the improvement with real activity.
How current is the data in analytics?
Live counts like views update as they happen, while score and rank reflect the most recent nightly recompute.
Can I compare myself to competitors?
You can see your position within your pool on the leaderboard. Analytics focuses on your own signals so you improve on merit rather than obsessing over rivals.
What does “best rank” on my dashboard mean?
It is the strongest current rank across all the businesses you manage — a quick headline of your best-performing listing.

Engagement & contact actions

Calls, WhatsApp, enquiries, website, saves, shares and views — by intent.

13
What counts as engagement?
Every genuine interaction, scored on an intent ladder (higher intent = more weight): calls and WhatsApp count most, then enquiry clicks, then website clicks, then saves and shares, then profile clicks, then views. Together they form the engagement signal worth up to 200 points.
Which actions boost my rank the most?
High-intent contact actions — calls and WhatsApp clicks — carry the most weight, followed by enquiry clicks and website clicks. Saves and shares help a little; plain views the least. The principle: the closer an action is to becoming a customer, the more it counts.
Does it help if visitors actually contact me, not just view?
Yes. On top of raw volume, there is a conversion-rate bonus: the higher the share of viewers who take a real contact action, the more engagement points you earn. Quality of attention matters, not just quantity.
Can I inflate engagement by clicking my own buttons?
No. Every event is de-duplicated per visitor per day and recency-weighted, so one person refreshing or clicking repeatedly counts once. Only genuine, distinct activity moves your rank.
Do older clicks count as much as recent ones?
No. Engagement is recency-weighted — activity in the last 30 days counts in full, the next 60 days counts at half, and older activity drops off. This keeps your score reflecting current momentum.
How are call and WhatsApp clicks tracked?
When a customer taps a contact button, the click is logged before forwarding them, so genuine interest is captured without exposing your number unsafely.
Do website clicks help my score?
Yes. A click through to your website is an engagement event and contributes to the engagement signal.
Do page views alone make me rank higher?
Views contribute, but they are the lightest rung on the intent ladder. Calls, WhatsApp, enquiries and especially verified leads carry far more weight.
Why route contact buttons through a tracker?
So we can measure genuine engagement and protect against open redirects. The destination is always derived from your verified business details.
Does sharing my listing help?
Sharing drives real visits and potential enquiries, which can lift engagement and leads — both of which feed your score.
Is engagement the same as reviews?
No. Engagement measures interactions like clicks and views; reviews are a separate, larger signal about customer satisfaction.
Do likes count as engagement for ranking?
Yes, lightly. A save is a low-intent engagement action counted once per user and recency-weighted, so it adds a little but can never be gamed or outweigh real reviews, leads or verification.
How can I get more engagement?
Keep your profile complete and your contact options visible, respond quickly, and share your listing link with real customers.

Sponsored slots & advertising

The only paid product that touches visibility — and how it stays separate from rank.

16
What is a sponsored slot?
A sponsored slot is a clearly-labelled advertisement that shows above the organic leaderboard. It is the only paid product that touches visibility, and it never changes any score or rank.
Does sponsoring improve my WRL score?
No. Sponsorship buys visibility in a labelled ad slot only. Your WRL score and rank are completely untouched.
What sponsor packages are available?
Two: Category Top Spot at $25 a month, which features you at the top of your own category and city, and Leaderboard Spotlight at $50 a month, which features you across all leaderboards.
What is the difference between the two packages?
The $25 Category Top Spot promotes you within your own pool. The $50 Leaderboard Spotlight promotes you on every leaderboard for maximum reach.
How do I buy a sponsor package?
Open the Get featured page from your dashboard, choose a package and send an enquiry. We then call you to confirm and set it up — no payment is taken online.
Will customers know a slot is an ad?
Yes. Sponsored slots are always clearly labelled “Sponsored” so the distinction between paid placement and earned rank is obvious.
Why keep ads separate from the ranking?
Because the platform’s entire value is that rank is earned, not bought. Keeping ads beside the organic list — like search engines do — protects that trust.
Can I sponsor and still rank organically?
Yes. Your organic rank continues to be earned by your signals exactly as before. The sponsored slot is an additional, separate placement.
How long does a sponsorship last?
Packages are monthly. We agree the run dates with you when we set up your slot.
What happens to my enquiry after I submit it?
It becomes a sponsor lead in our system and our team contacts you to confirm details and arrange payment. Nothing is charged automatically.
Is payment taken on the website?
No. The sponsor flow is enquiry-based: you send your interest, we call you, and the order is completed with you directly.
Can sponsoring guarantee me the number-one organic rank?
No. Nothing can buy organic rank. Sponsorship only places you in the labelled ad slot above the list.
Do I need a live listing to sponsor?
It is best to have your business listed first so we can feature the right profile. You can add your business and then enquire about a package.
Can I change or cancel my sponsorship?
Yes. Contact us and we will adjust or end your slot. Because billing is handled with you directly, changes are straightforward.
Where will my sponsored slot appear?
With the Category Top Spot, at the top of your own category and city leaderboard; with the Leaderboard Spotlight, at the top of every leaderboard.
Is sponsorship the same as a verified badge?
No. Sponsorship is paid advertising; the verified badge is earned through verification checks. They are entirely different things.

Pricing & billing

What is free, what costs money, and why.

10
Is WorldRankList free?
Browsing, searching, reviewing and listing a business are all free. You only pay if you choose an optional add-on such as a sponsored slot.
What exactly costs money?
Optional layers that sit outside the ranking: clearly-labelled sponsored slots, advanced analytics tools, and data or API access. None of these change a rank.
How much do sponsor packages cost?
The Category Top Spot is $25 a month and the Leaderboard Spotlight is $50 a month. Both are advertising placements, not rank boosts.
Can I pay to rank higher?
No. There is no price for rank. Paying only ever buys things around the ranking, never a position inside it.
How is payment handled?
For sponsorships, you send an enquiry and our team arranges payment with you directly. No card details are taken on the website.
Are there any hidden fees for listing?
No. Listing and earning a WRL score is free, with no hidden charges.
Do you offer refunds on sponsorships?
Because sponsorships are arranged directly with our team, refund and change requests are handled case by case — just contact us.
What currency are prices in?
Sponsor package prices are shown in US dollars. We confirm the exact billing details with you when setting up your slot.
Will free listings always be free?
Our model is built on free, earned rankings. Revenue comes from optional layers around the algorithm, so the core listing stays free.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. Creating an account and listing your business never requires payment details.

Account & security

Registering, signing in, passwords and keeping your account safe.

14
How do I create an account?
Use the Register page with your name, email and a password. We email you a verification link to confirm the address before you can add a business.
Why must I verify my email?
Email verification proves the account is real and contactable. Sign-in to manage businesses is blocked until your email is confirmed.
I did not receive my verification email — what now?
Check spam, then use the resend option on the verification page. If it still does not arrive, contact us and we will help.
How long is the verification link valid?
Verification and reset links are time-limited for security. If yours expires, simply request a fresh one.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?
Use the Forgot password page. We email a secure reset link so you can set a new password.
How do I change my password?
From your account settings, where you can update your password at any time while signed in.
How do I change the email on my account?
Update it in account settings. Changing your email triggers re-verification of the new address to keep the account secure.
How are my passwords stored?
Passwords are stored as secure one-way hashes, never in plain text, so even we cannot read them.
Is the site protected against common attacks?
Yes. Every form uses CSRF protection, all database access uses prepared statements, user content is escaped, and admin sessions are regenerated on login.
How do I sign out?
Use the Sign out option in the navigation or your dashboard. We recommend signing out on shared devices.
Can I update my name and phone number?
Yes, both are editable in account settings. Your phone helps us reach you, including for lead and verification checks.
How do I keep my account secure?
Use a strong, unique password, keep your email secure, and never share your login. Contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Contact us to close your account, and we will remove your personal data in line with our privacy policy.
What is the difference between an owner account and an admin account?
Owner accounts manage businesses in the public area. Admin accounts are internal staff who moderate content — and even they cannot edit a score or rank.

Privacy & data

What we collect, how it is used and your rights.

12
What personal data does WorldRankList collect?
For owners, the account details you provide such as name, email and phone, plus the business information you publish. For visitors, basic interaction data needed to run the site.
Who can see my contact details?
The business contact details you publish are public so customers can reach you. Your private account details and your leads are not shown publicly.
Are customer enquiries kept private?
Yes. A lead is visible only to the business that received it and to our staff for moderation. It is never published.
Do you sell my personal data?
We sell ranking and listing data as part of our data and API layer, but that is aggregated business ranking information — not your private account credentials.
Can I request a copy of my data?
Yes. Contact us and we will help you access the personal data associated with your account, in line with our privacy policy.
Can I ask you to delete my data?
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data; some records may be retained where required for legal or anti-fraud reasons.
How is sensitive configuration protected?
Sensitive settings such as mail credentials are encrypted at rest, so a raw database copy never exposes them in plain text.
Do you use cookies?
We use the minimum needed to keep you signed in and to run core features. Details are in the privacy policy.
Is my review shown with my name?
Reviews are attributed to the name provided so they are credible to readers. Do not include private information you do not want shown.
How long do you keep my data?
We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then remove or anonymise it. See the privacy policy for specifics.
Where can I read the full privacy policy?
The Privacy Policy is linked in the footer of every page and covers collection, use, sharing and your rights in full.
Is my payment information stored on the site?
No. Sponsorships are arranged directly with our team, so card details are not entered or stored on the website.

For customers & searchers

Using WorldRankList to find and trust the best business.

12
How do I find the best business in my area?
Open the leaderboard for your category and city, or search by name. The list is ordered by WRL score, so the strongest, most trusted businesses appear first.
Can I trust the rankings?
Yes. The order is set purely by the algorithm from real signals and can never be bought, so rank 1 genuinely reflects the strongest business in that pool.
How do I search for a specific business?
Use the search box to look up a business by name. Results are ordered by WRL score so the most established matches surface first.
What should I look at besides the score?
Read the reviews, check the profile completeness, look for the verified badge, and see how the business responds to enquiries. The score is a great summary, not the only factor.
How do I contact a business I found?
Use the call, WhatsApp or website buttons on the listing, or send an enquiry through the form to leave a message the owner will follow up.
What does the verified badge tell me as a customer?
It means the business has passed our verification checks and is confirmed as real and contactable — an extra layer of confidence.
Are sponsored results the best businesses?
Not necessarily. Sponsored slots are clearly-labelled ads. For merit-based quality, look at the organic ranking below them, which is earned, not paid.
Can I save businesses to compare later?
Yes. Sign in and use the save or like option to keep businesses in your account. Saving is a personal bookmark and does not affect anyone’s rank.
How recent is the information I see?
Rankings refresh every 24 hours and live counts update continuously, so what you see is current.
Is it free for me to use as a customer?
Completely free. Searching, browsing leaderboards, reading reviews and contacting businesses cost nothing.
How do I leave feedback about a business?
Use the review form on the listing to share your honest experience. Your review is moderated and then helps other customers.
A listing has wrong information — how do I report it?
Contact us with the listing and the issue. We review reports and correct inaccurate or misleading information.

AI search, data & API

Machine-readable rankings and how AI engines use them.

10
What does “built for AI search” mean?
Every listing and leaderboard publishes structured JSON-LD (schema.org) data, so search engines and AI assistants can read and cite our rankings accurately.
What is JSON-LD and why does it matter?
It is a standard way to describe a page’s data for machines. By marking up businesses and ranks, we make WorldRankList a clean, citable source for AI answers.
How does a complete profile help with AI search?
Fields like founding year and social links feed structured data such as sameAs and foundingDate, giving AI engines more accurate detail to cite about your business.
Can I access the ranking data via an API?
A data and API layer is part of our model. Contact us about feed or API access for your use case.
Is the data feed a way to buy better rank?
No. Data and API access let you consume the rankings; they do not change them. Rank remains earned by the algorithm.
Why would an AI engine cite WorldRankList?
Because we offer something hard to get elsewhere: verified, structured, ranking data built from real signals like reviews and verified leads.
What is the “proprietary data moat”?
Verified leads and verification create data that lives only on our platform and is hard to fake — making our rankings uniquely valuable to AI search.
Will my business appear in AI answers?
A complete, verified, well-ranked listing is the most citable. We cannot control third-party AI engines, but strong structured data gives you the best chance.
Is the structured data accurate?
It mirrors your live listing and computed rank. Keeping your profile accurate keeps the machine-readable data accurate too.
How do I enquire about data licensing?
Reach out through the Contact page describing what you need, and our team will discuss data or API options with you.

Categories & locations

How categories and cities define where you rank.

8
How are categories chosen?
Categories group similar businesses so comparisons are fair. You select the closest category when listing, and it becomes half of your ranking pool.
How do locations work?
Locations are organised by country, then state or region, then city. Your city is the other half of your ranking pool.
Why do category and city both matter?
Together they form your pool. You are ranked only against businesses sharing the same category and city, which keeps rank 1 genuinely meaningful and local.
Can I request a new category?
Yes. Pick the closest existing category for now and contact us to suggest a new one. We add categories as demand grows.
Can I request a new city?
Yes. If your city is missing, contact us and we will look at adding it so businesses there can be ranked.
What if I pick the wrong category?
Choosing the wrong category puts you in the wrong pool, which hurts discovery. Contact us to correct it; changes may be reviewed to prevent abuse.
Can one business sit in multiple categories?
A listing belongs to one category. If you genuinely operate distinct services, separate listings may be appropriate, each ranked in its own pool.
How many categories and cities are there?
The platform covers a broad and growing set of categories and locations. The About page shows current totals, which increase over time.

Fraud, fairness & the golden rule

How we keep the rankings honest for everyone.

10
Can rank really not be bought?
Correct. Rank is earned by the algorithm and can never be bought, edited or influenced by payment. This single rule defines the entire platform.
How do you stop fake reviews?
Reviews are moderated before publishing, only published reviews count, and the Bayesian formula plus fraud checks blunt the impact of any that slip through.
What happens if someone games the system?
Detected manipulation triggers a spam penalty subtracted from the score, and serious or repeat abuse can lead to suspension or removal.
Why are verified leads so central to fairness?
Because they require a real person to enquire and be confirmed, they are extremely hard to fake — anchoring the score in genuine outcomes rather than easily-gamed metrics.
Can administrators change my rank?
No. Staff can moderate content, approve or suspend listings and verify leads, but they can never set or edit a score or rank. Those are computed only by the engine.
How are likes prevented from skewing rank?
They are excluded entirely. Likes and saves are social bookmarks with zero effect on score or rank, precisely because they are easy to inflate.
What is the spam penalty based on?
Signals of manipulation such as sudden review spikes, duplicate text or burst engagement. It reduces a score after the legitimate signals are totalled.
How do you keep the comparison fair between big and small businesses?
Ranking within a city-and-category pool, plus a Bayesian review model and capped profile points, prevents size or self-reported fields alone from buying the top spot.
I think a competitor is cheating — what should I do?
Report it through the Contact page with specifics. We investigate credible reports and apply penalties where manipulation is found.
Why should I trust an earned ranking over a paid directory?
Because when position cannot be bought, the order reflects genuine merit. That trust is the whole reason WorldRankList exists.

Troubleshooting & support

Fixes for common issues and how to reach us.

12
My business is not appearing in search — why?
It may still be pending approval, or newly approved and awaiting the next nightly score. Confirm it is live, then allow up to 24 hours.
My rank dropped suddenly — what happened?
Check your analytics for the signal that changed. Common causes are removed reviews, reduced recent activity, or a rival improving. A fraud penalty is also possible if guidelines were breached.
I cannot log in — what should I check?
Make sure your email is verified, your password is correct, and you are using the right email. Use Forgot password if needed, or resend the verification email.
My changes are not showing — why?
Profile edits appear right away on your listing, but score and rank effects apply at the next nightly recompute. Allow up to 24 hours for ranking changes.
I am not receiving emails from WorldRankList — what now?
Check your spam folder and that your address is correct in settings. If emails still do not arrive, contact us so we can investigate delivery.
A contact button is not working — what do I do?
Make sure the relevant field (phone, WhatsApp or website) is filled in correctly on your listing. Correct it in Edit, then test again.
I found a bug — how do I report it?
Tell us through the Contact page with what you did and what happened. Clear steps help us fix it faster.
My leads inbox is empty — is something wrong?
Probably not. It simply means no enquiries yet. Keep your profile complete and contact options visible to capture more, and share your listing.
How do I get help that is not covered here?
Use the Contact page or email us. A real person responds, usually within one to two business days.
How fast do you reply to support requests?
We typically reply within one to two business days, often sooner.
Can you set up my listing for me?
We can guide you, and our team helps directly when you enquire about a sponsor package. The listing itself is quick to create from your dashboard.
Where do I send feedback or feature ideas?
We welcome ideas through the Contact page. Feedback from owners and customers shapes what we build next.
